How to Prevent and Manage a Funny Bone Injury

Get elbow pads!  (just kidding).

*Prevention is key.  Avoid hitting sharp edges with your elbows. Easy for me to say, but that's the most important way to avoid injury to your ulnar nerve.

If you feel a faint coming on:  If you have hit your elbow, and start to feel faint, light-headed, or a fuzzy feeling, let someone know you hurt your elbow (if you're not alone), and get down on the floor immediately.  It will feel like the blood is draining out of your head.  You are at risk of hitting your head, breaking your teeth, or injuring other parts of your body if you fall down.  Hopefully someone will be around to help ease you down if you faint before you can get down on the floor.  It may also be a good idea to put your feet up so the blood can get back to your heart and head sooner rather than later.  If you are sitting, and can't get to the ground in time, put your head between your knees.  Someone may decide to call the paramedics because it can look really scary to them.  It looks like you may be having a seizure or a heart attack (it isn't pretty).
